Perspective

For the past two weeks our agency, Post Haste Travel, has had two Cruise Events that we promoted, three Suppliers Events to attend, and numerous supplier visits in our office.  I’m exhausted.  I get to the office around 7 AM and I try to leave by 4 PM.  My advisors get in at various hours, and our office closes at 6 PM.  But these last two weeks we've had Suppliers Events to attend that started early and have ended late, around 9 PM. 12 and 15 hour days seem to be the norm in the Luxury Travel Industry.

We’re all very tired. At our Tuesday night Luxury Cruise Event, as I was talking to our suppliers that attended our event, I realized that no matter how tired I was, they do this almost every night -- seven days or nights a week.  In Florida, the cruise representatives have events almost every night. Then I thought about the hoteliers that travel year round promoting their properties. I wondered about how many flights they have to take and how many time zones they have to traverse.  I should not complain.

We in the Luxury Travel Industry should be so appreciative of our suppliers. We should remember that not only do they attend and support our marketing efforts, but they often have other events to go to after finishing ours.  They may have to follow up on their emails after midnight; they may be doing sales training's or ship inspections on the weekends . . . when do they get a break?

We are very lucky to have representatives for all our suppliers that sacrifice their own family time, their own vacation time, in order to make sure we are always up-to-date and have the most recent news about their products. I can’t thank all of our suppliers enough for being there for us, so we can provide the best information and service for our clients.  And I wish I knew what I could do to make their jobs easier .
I shouldn't complain about being tired when I think about how hard they work.

At 1,300 acres, is one of the largest urban parks in the country. The first parcel of land was acquired in 1854, making it one of the country’s oldest parks. This will be one of the stops that the guests will be able to disembark the transportation to use the restroom, grab a coffee ice cream or just enjoy the beauty of the park. Another hop off location will be an above ground cemetery known as “The City of the Dead”. Your guests will enjoy a history of New Orleans including the first settlers, religion, culture, and of course, Mardi Gras. Stop along the way in the Lower Ninth Ward that was devastated by Hurricane Katrina and see the rebuilding that has taken place.  Pass the levee that broke, Brad Pitt's “Make it Right Foundation” and Fat's Domino's Home.

Southern Food and Beverage Museum

The Southern Food and Beverage Museum is a nonprofit living history organization dedicated to the discovery, understanding and celebration of the food, drink and the related culture of the South. The Southern Food and Beverage Museum celebrates, interprets, investigates, entertains and preserves. A collaboration between many, the Museum allows food lovers of all stripes – Southerners and non-Southerners, locals and tourists, academics and food industry insiders — to pull up their chairs and dig into the food and drink of the South. And although we are based in New Orleans, we are bringing our message about the entire South to the world through exhibits, collection of oral histories and videos, and other research.

Enjoy Beignets and Café Au Lait at Café Du Monde in the Historic French Market

Located in the Historic New Orleans French Market, the Original Cafe Du Monde Coffee Stand was established in 1862. Beignets were brought to Louisiana by the Acadians. These were fried fritters, sometimes filled with fruit. Today, the beignet is a square piece of dough, fried and covered with powdered sugar. They are served in orders of three. Wash your beignets down with a delicious cup of  Café Au Lait.

The perfect way to start off any day.
