For the past two weeks our agency, Post Haste Travel, has
had two Cruise Events that we promoted, three Suppliers Events to attend, and
numerous supplier visits in our office.
I’m exhausted. I get to the
office around 7 AM and I try to leave by 4 PM.
My advisors get in at various hours, and our office closes at 6 PM. But these last two weeks we've had Suppliers
Events to attend that started early and have ended late, around 9 PM. 12 and 15 hour days seem to be the norm in the Luxury Travel
Industry.
We’re all very tired. At our Tuesday night Luxury Cruise
Event, as I was talking to our suppliers that attended our event, I realized that no
matter how tired I was, they do this almost every night -- seven days or nights
a week. In Florida , the cruise representatives have
events almost every night. Then I thought about the hoteliers that travel year
round promoting their properties. I wondered about how many flights they have
to take and how many time zones they have to traverse. I should not complain.
We in the Luxury Travel Industry should be so appreciative
of our suppliers. We should remember that not only do they attend and support
our marketing efforts, but they often have other events to go to after finishing ours. They may have to follow up on
their emails after midnight; they may be doing sales training's or ship
inspections on the weekends . . . when do they get a break?
We are very lucky to have representatives for
all our suppliers that sacrifice their own family time, their own vacation
time, in order to make sure we are always up-to-date and have the most recent news about their products. I
can’t thank all of our suppliers enough for being there for us, so we can
provide the best information and service for our clients. And I wish I knew what I could do to make
their jobs easier .
I
shouldn't complain about being tired when I think about how hard they work.
